Uber to buy ezCater for $2.3B, adding catering to Uber Eats

Uber Technologies has agreed to acquire ezCater, the leading U.S. platform for catering and workplace meals, in an all-cash transaction valued at $2.3 billion. ezCater's platform lets businesses order from more than 140,000 restaurants nationwide, supporting meetings, events and recurring enterprise catering programs. The deal pushes Uber Eats deeper into the corporate meal market.

Why it matters: Uber is buying scale in a high-frequency, high-ticket B2B food segment that its consumer delivery network has struggled to crack organically.
