Valley National to buy small-business fintech Bluevine for $340M

Valley National Bank agreed to acquire Bluevine for $340 million, adding $2.1 billion in deposits that will transfer from partner bank Coastal Community Bank to the $66 billion-asset lender in the first half of 2027. Why it matters: Bank-buys-fintech is back, with Valley paying for cheap deposits and AI engineering talent rather than branches.
