Workday to acquire agentic identity platform C1.ai

Workday signed a definitive agreement to acquire C1.ai, which manages access rights for both employees and AI agents across business systems such as email, CRM, code repositories and cloud infrastructure. Workday announced the deal at its Workday Rising 2026 event. Terms were not disclosed.

Why it matters: Workday is betting that governing AI agents' access will become core to HR and IT platforms, and this deal pushes it into identity governance.
