FTAI Aviation buys 27 Boeing 737-700s from WestJet

FTAI Aviation has acquired 27 Boeing 737-700 aircraft from WestJet in one of its largest aircraft transactions to date. FTAI's 2026 SPV, the second vehicle of its Strategic Capital business, took 17 jets on lease to WestJet in a sale-leaseback, while FTAI itself bought 10 off-lease aircraft to feed CFM56-7B engines and modules into its Aerospace Products exchange pool.

Why it matters: The deal marks the start of WestJet's 737-700 fleet retirement and shows how FTAI is pairing leasing capital with engine maintenance to corner mid-life narrowbody supply.
