Tesco agreed to sell its Czech and Slovak businesses to Ahold Delhaize at an enterprise value of €1.7 billion, on a cash- and debt-free basis. Tesco expects about €1.2 billion in net cash proceeds and plans to return most of it through an extra buyback. Closing is targeted for the second half of 2027, pending antitrust approvals.

Why it matters: Ahold Delhaize adds businesses with £2.9 billion in combined sales last year, while Tesco narrows its Central European footprint to Hungary.
