$3.4BStrategic acquisitionMaterials & Chemicals

Silgan Holdings and funds affiliated with American Industrial Partners will acquire Trivium Packaging, combining it with Silgan's Metal Containers segment and food and beverage flat cap closures businesses to form Silgan Metal Containers and Closures. The deal values Trivium at about $3.4 billion. Ontario Teachers' is selling its majority stake and Ardagh Group its ~42% stake. Closing is expected in mid-2027.

Why it matters: Silgan calls the deal transformational, creating a larger metal packaging player in cans and aerosols just as Ardagh exits a non-core holding to simplify and potentially deleverage.
